Larry began shoeing in 1974. In 1992, he received the High Point Award for his CJF written and practical exam (a voluntary certification with the American Farriers Association). He has accompanied the Canadian equestrian team to many international events, including the Olympics, World Equestrian Games (GEM) and Pan American Games. Larry has had the pleasure of working for many Olympic riders, including Eric Lamaze and his remarkable 2008 gold medalist Hickstead. In 2012, he received the first honorary member of the AAPF (American Association of Professional Farriers). In 2017, he was inducted into the International Horseshoe Hall of Fame.
